Crystal checked one of her long-awaited bucket list travel destinations off her list this year when we embarked on a breathtaking journey exploring the stunning Fall foliage along the iconic Blue Ridge Parkway in scenic North Carolina.

Adding to the charm of this unforgettable adventure was the fact that we were accompanied by our beloved circle of close-knit friends and Crystal’s corgi. With the desire to foster a cozy and communal atmosphere, we decided to forgo the conventional hotel experience and opt for an Airbnb rental.

To our delight, we found the perfect pet-friendly cottage with three bedrooms and two bathrooms that could accommodate all of us comfortably.

The Cottage Location

As we approached the property, we were blown away by the vibrant hues of orange, red, and yellow that painted the landscape, creating a picturesque backdrop. We were perfectly positioned, just 25 minutes away from downtown Asheville and within a few miles radius of local grocery stores.

With such proximity to both urban excitement and practical amenities, we found ourselves in the ideal setting for a truly enjoyable and hassle-free getaway.

We were particularly drawn to this charming cottage not only for its cozy atmosphere and picturesque surroundings but also because of its convenient proximity to the exciting outdoor activities we had eagerly included in our itinerary.

Master Bedroom and Bathroom

The pet-friendly cottage was a charming two-story abode, boasting three cozy bedrooms and two immaculate baths. All of the rooms were located on the second floor. We didn’t have indoor access to the bottom floor, but the balcony was spacious and adorned with hammocks, perfect for leisurely and blissful moments of relaxation.

Crystal and I shared the master bedroom that had an attached bathroom. The room itself surpassed our expectations in terms of space and design, boasting a delightful blend of country chic and bohemian influences. Our king-size bed proved to be a haven of comfort, ensuring a restful slumber each night.

The attached bathroom was spacious and stocked with all the essential amenities (shampoo, conditioner, soap, and lotion) that we needed for our stay. We had two sinks which provided us with ample room to neatly organize our toiletries.

On our first night, we experienced a minor inconvenience when the hot water unexpectedly ran out as we took consecutive showers. Worried that this could become a recurring issue throughout the duration of our stay, we decided to adopt a simple solution by deliberately allowing some time between each shower session.

The remaining two bedrooms were smaller in size, but surprisingly spacious enough to accommodate all your needs. Each bedroom was tastefully decorated with lamps, mirrors, and art that added a touch of sophistication to the space. Additionally, luggage racks were thoughtfully placed in each room, providing convenient storage options for our belongings.

The second bathroom was located in the hallway, just steps away from the bedrooms. It was impeccably clean and stocked with shampoo, conditioner, soap, and lotion, ensuring that guests had everything that they needed.

In addition to the standard towels, the bathroom also provided a separate set of black towels specifically designated for makeup removal, ensuring that guests could freshen up without worrying about staining the white towels.

Kitchen

We were pleasantly surprised to discover that our Airbnb had a meticulously prepared and fully stocked kitchen, furnished with an extensive array of culinary essentials. From pots and pans to utensils and cutting boards, it boasted everything one could possibly require to whip up a sumptuous feast.

Moreover, the thoughtful inclusion of various provisions, such as foil, saran wrap, and a selection of condiments like oil, salt, pepper, and more, showcased the owner's attention to detail and commitment to ensuring a seamless and convenient cooking experience for their guests.

There was also a Keurig machine in a cozy little coffee station corner, complete with an array of coffee pods and an assortment of condiments. If Keurig is not your thing and you prefer specific coffee, they also provided a French Press. For added convenience, there was an electric tea kettle as well for tea lovers.

During our stay, we made the most of the kitchen amenities, utilizing everything from the oven to the dishwasher. When we used the microwave, we were rather surprised to discover that the turntable was missing. It did make us wonder why it was absent. Nevertheless, we managed to work around it and still enjoyed preparing our meals in the cozy kitchen.

Living Room

The living space was cozy with ample seating options with two comfortable sofas. The room featured a large flat-screen TV equipped with Netflix for our viewing pleasure. The best part was that it was already signed in, so we didn't have to go through the hassle of logging into our own Netflix account.

To our delight, we discovered a well-stocked collection of board games. It was a pleasant surprise to find such a variety of games to choose from, including classics like Scrabble. Each night, we eagerly selected a different board game to play, sparking friendly competition and creating priceless memories.

Extra Amenities

We weren't expecting to see a washer and dryer in the unit, so that was a delightful and unexpected surprise. It truly made our stay even more convenient and enjoyable.

It was a relief to have the convenience of a washer and dryer, especially since we all had a few clothes that desperately needed washing. Additionally, we were relieved to find that detergent and fabric softener was readily available, eliminating the need for us to hunt down a nearby store.

During our stay, we had WiFi service and did not experience any frustrating connection issues or dreaded slow speeds. This reliable and strong internet connection proved to be a valuable asset, especially for one of our friends who needed to accomplish some work tasks during our trip.

Final Thoughts

We had a truly fantastic stay at this accommodation, and overall, everything went incredibly smoothly and surpassed our expectations. However, we did encounter a minor setback on our first night when we unexpectedly ran out of hot water. Nevertheless, this did not overshadow the rest of our stay.

The check-in process was exceptionally simple and hassle-free, as we were provided with a convenient code that allowed us to effortlessly gain entry. The host was extremely attentive and promptly addressed any questions or concerns that we had throughout our stay, ensuring that we felt well taken care of.

Upon checking out, we were asked to gather and dispose of all the trash from the bathrooms, placing them in the kitchen alongside the remaining garbage. Although we understood the importance of maintaining cleanliness, we couldn't help but find this request slightly inconvenient, given that we were paying a cleaning fee.

Nonetheless, this was a minor detail that didn't overshadow the overall positive experience. We would wholeheartedly choose to stay at this accommodation again, as it provided us with a truly wonderful experience.
