Crystal and I were so excited when we booked a room at the Treehouse Hotel London. This hotel was a dream and perfectly located right across the street from the iconic BBC building and just a stone’s throw away from the bustling shops of Regent Street and Oxford Street. To our delight, we even enjoyed a stunning, world-class view of the London Eye right from the comfort of our bedroom. Here is our complete and detailed review of our unforgettable stay.
CHECK IN
We arrived at the hotel at 2 PM, which was before the official check-in time, but to our pleasant surprise, our room was ready for us to settle in. The check-in staff member who greeted us was truly a delight. She radiated cheerfulness and provided us with an abundance of information regarding the various amenities of the hotel, including their on-site restaurants and bars, which was very helpful.
As an extra thoughtful touch, we were even offered a complimentary cup of coffee or tea from their charming mini café. It came served in a cute cup that perfectly matched the overall theme of their hotel, making it a lovely treat after a long flight.
Another delightful thing that was offered at check-in was a little bag for each guest to fill it with complimentary candy from an impressive array of candy jars that was creatively displayed across an entire wall. We took full advantage of this sweet opportunity and had an absolute blast selecting our favorite gummy bears and sour patch gummies into our candy bags.
I almost forgot to mention that she kindly offered travel adapters for our use in case we happened to forget them and also reminded us not to forget to take the time to enjoy the festive holiday lights that were officially starting during our stay.
KING STUDIO SUITE
We booked the King Studio Suite (room 1416), which was a comfortable 409 square foot room. There were two separate spaces with a living room and bedroom. As soon as we walked in our room, we were blown away by the decor and all the attention to detail with their tree house theme. This even extended out into the hallways where it had a cabin vibe and event forest fragrance throughout the hotel.
The studio suite also offers perks like priority seating at their restaurants Madera, Pizzeria Mozza, and The Nest (based on availability). We visited all three restaurants and didn’t mention this perk to the host, but were seated regardless of not having any reservations.
Living Room
The design of the living room was spacious with plenty of room for two people. The living room had a petite couch, accent chair, coffee table, TV, and a retro record player. The record player had a handful of records for us to play, but only one of them worked. The other records were a bit worn out and the music was warped, but it was still a nice touch to the room.
We didn’t use this room to watch any TV, but instead used the space as our walk-in closet of sorts. We laid out our luggage and clothes in this room and it worked out perfectly for our needs.
Bedroom
The bedroom was spacious and had an ensuite bathroom, a window with a beautiful view of the city skyline, a gorgeous live edge desk, and a large flat-screen TV.
Crystal immediately fell in love with the throw pillows on the bed, which was a mushroom and sloth. She practically booked the room based off of the sloth pillow, no joke. The bed was comfy and we slept comfortably for the most part.
We say this because we heard constant noise like banging and movement above us. The 15th floor is where the Madera restaurant is located, so we’re assuming we were situated right under the kitchen because the noise stopped around 2AM and then would pick back up again around 6AM.
On both sides of the bed there were reading lamps and a side table complete with outlets and USB ports to charge our electronic devices.
Our favorite part of the room was the long bench beneath the window that created the perfect seating nook to enjoy our morning cup of coffee and tea. We also enjoyed a quick lunch here one late afternoon. Although London was a tad on the gloomy side during our stay, we did not mind it all as it was still such a beautiful skyline view from the 14th floor.
We simply adored that we were surrounded by childhood memorabilia and vintage furniture throughout the room. Some notable classics were the Magic 8 Ball and kaleidoscope.
Hallway & Closet
There was a small hallway area that led to the bathroom. This hallway had a cute seating area with a full length mirror in front of it. This is where we did our hair in the mornings and plugged in our hair styling tools.
There was a cute Paddington Bear placed on the seat and a cuckoo clock hanging on the wall. Both of these adorable design details played well with the whole treehouse theme. If you’re unfamiliar with Paddington Bear, it’s a character from a famous children’s book by the British author Michael Bond.
The closet space was small with some space to hang our coats and sweaters. We found here a small fridge filled with an array of drinks and a petite coffee station. Tucked away in the corner was an iron and ironing board.
Bathroom
The bathroom was a spacious and bright space with birch tree trunks in the corner. We weren’t sure if they were real (they looked real), but birch is 100% waterproof and has a natural resistance to fungus and rot.
The mirror was large and the sink had a lovely vintage design to it. The counter space was on the smaller side with basic toiletries. Although the toiletries were minimal, they did not lack in design as everything was thoughtfully designed with their treehouse logo.
There was a lack of hooks in the bathroom, so we had to get creative to hang our toiletry bags and towels. We had daily room service so our towels were replenished daily.
The shower was equipped with a rain-shower head and hand held shower. We aren’t big fans of the rain-shower head, so we used the hand held shower instead. However, the hand held shower was not adjustable so it was pretty annoying since it was spewing water onto the bathroom floor. On the other hand, the water pressure and temperature were great.
ON-SITE DINING
Madera
We were really excited to dine here after viewing their amazing decor on their instagram feed. We literally spent twenty minutes just in their entrance seating area enjoying the sweeping views of the city and taking like a million photos.
We actually had no idea what type of cuisine the restaurant served so when we sat down, we were delighted to see that it was a modern twist on Mexican cuisine or they described it as reimagined Mexican. We were expecting pretty high prices given the location and exceptional decor, but it was surprisingly very reasonably priced.
There was a bit of a hiccup with our dessert but other than that, we both really enjoyed our entrees. The entrees were plated beautifully and even better that all of their ingredients are organic.
Pizzeria Mozza
The staff here are all very friendly and the food is delicious. We loved the food so much that we had dinner here twice. The portions were plentiful and seating was never hard to snag.
On our first night we shared a Margherita pizza and a drink. On our second visit, we ordered the Funghi Misti pizza and Radiatori Al Forno. Both meals were again amazing and we love their concept of focusing on locally sourced, premium, seasonal ingredients.
LOCATION
Located in the vibrant heart of London, this hotel is surrounded by an impressive array of cafes, restaurants, and shopping venues, which made the location an especially enjoyable experience. We never found ourselves short of places to dine or grab a comforting cup of coffee. In fact, there were so many wonderful options available that we didn’t have time to fit them all into our itinerary.
The hotel is centrally located in the heart of the city, offering convenient and easy access to various other parts of the city. We were just a brief six-minute walk away from the Oxford Circus Tube Station, which made our travels around the city effortless.
During our stay, we visited popular attractions such as the Churchill War Rooms and the beautiful Kensington Palace. Additionally, we had an array of shopping options within walking distance and we enjoyed the enchanting festive lights illuminating the streets at night.
Even though we found ourselves amidst all the liveliness and excitement of the city, we were pleasantly tucked away in a quiet corner where it was nice and calm, providing a perfect balance for relaxation.
FINAL THOUGHTS
We couldn’t have asked for a better stay. The entire hotel was exceptionally curated with the cutest details where you were truly immersed in their treehouse theme. On our previous visits to London, we stayed at the Kimpton Fitzroy London and Conrad London St. James Hotel, but the Treehouse Hotel was by far our favorite so far.
