Earlier this year when we visited Osaka, we stayed at MIMARU Osaka Namba Station; however this time we chose to stay at a different location. Similar to our previous stay, this was an apartment style hotel (alternatively known as an aparthotel).

There were a few reasons why we chose to stay at a different hotel this time around. One, S-Presso Central Hotel was located within walking distance to a music venue we had plans to visit. Two, the price point was cheaper than the previous hotel. Three, this hotel had a total of four twin beds which was perfect for our needs.

LOCATION

The hotel is conveniently situated in the Namba district of Osaka, a vibrant area renowned for hosting many of the main tourist attractions that draws many visitors. We were also within walking distance to numerous restaurants, cafes, and bars. There was even a 7-Eleven located right across the street, which we frequented pretty much every day.

GETTING THERE

We took the train to Daikokucho Station, which is part of Osaka’s metro system. Upon exiting the station, it was approximately an eight-minute walk to our hotel, giving us the chance to explore the surroundings along the way.

We relied on Google Maps, complemented by our portable Ninja WiFi, as it would have been nearly impossible to navigate without it. Given the complexity of the streets and extensive transit system, we highly recommend that travelers consider obtaining either a pocket WiFi device or a mobile SIM card. It truly makes a world of difference and saves you so much time.

CHECK IN

Check-in was set for 3 PM, but we messaged the hotel in advance of our arrival, inquiring about the possibility of securing an earlier check-in time. Fortunately, they were able to accommodate our request for an additional fee of 4,000 yen, which we greatly appreciated, especially since we were scheduled to arrive at noon and wanted to settle in sooner.

When we arrived at the hotel, we were warmly greeted by a staff member, and the check-in process was pretty swift and efficient. During this initial encounter, we were asked if we required room service for the duration of our stay, but we opted out of that service.

The reason for our decision was that we found it quite convenient to easily grab all of the necessities such as towels, toilet paper, tissues, and more from a well-stocked shelf that was conveniently located right next to the elevator.

STANDARD APARTMENT ROOM

We booked the Standard Apartment room, which was about 511 square feet and was equipped with four cozy twin beds. The entry to our room featured a keyless system, allowing us to unlock the door using a touchpad by simply entering a designated passcode. We prefer keyless entry systems because, this way, we don’t have to worry about the hassle of misplacing our keys during our stay.

When we first stepped into our room, we were surprised at how tight and compact the space to the entryway was. There was literally only enough room for one person to enter at a time, which felt a little cramped. However, once we made our way down the narrow hallway, we were warmly greeted by a bright and spacious living and kitchen area that opened up, providing a refreshing contrast to the initial tight space.

There were four clearly defined sections in the layout of the aparthotel room: the interconnected Living and Kitchen area, the cozy Bedroom, the Toilet, and the separate Shower Room.

Living/Kitchen

We spent a lot of our time in the living area since it was a comfortable spot to unwind at the dining table. Additionally, this room was furnished with the only TV in the rental. Since there was limited sink space in the shower room, we also utilized the dining table for our morning makeup routine.

While we refrained from any actual cooking during our stay, we did make use of the fridge, electric kettle, and microwave. If you did want to cook, you’ll find everything you need to prepare a meal in this well-equipped kitchen, from utensils and cookware to silverware, making it convenient to cook.

Tip: There isn’t an iron and ironing board provided in your room, so you will need to visit the lobby to obtain those items. We took care of this by requesting them at the time of our check-in, which made the process smoother.

Bedroom

The bedroom was equipped with a total of four twin beds, providing ample sleeping arrangements for us, and it can be conveniently closed off from the living space with sliding shoji doors. The room itself was spacious, comprising one large area that featured two split AC units for optimal climate control.

Additionally, there were more sliding doors that could be utilized to divide the room in half, which is likely the reason for the presence of two AC units.

The beds were comfy, and we truly loved that we each had our own space to charge all our electronic devices without any hassle. There were plenty of outlets conveniently located throughout the room, which made it easy to keep everything powered up.

However, there wasn’t a designated area to place our luggage anywhere, which posed a bit of a challenge. Since we had one empty bed available, we creatively utilized this extra space to place our suitcases.

Toilet/Shower Room

The toilet and shower were situated in separate rooms, providing a bit of privacy for each function. The bathroom was quite tiny, yet it was equipped with a nice Japanese Toto toilet, which is known for its advanced features, and there was an ample supply of toilet paper stocked for convenience. Additionally, there was a mini sink tucked into the space, making it functional for quick use.

The shower room area was quite spacious and was thoughtfully divided into two distinct sections for added convenience. One area functioned as the sink vanity room, while the shower room featured a separate tub for relaxation. Basic amenities such as body soap, shampoo, and conditioner were not only provided but were plentiful.

The only thing we wished the shower room had was a simple door stopper. At times, it got rather stuffy in there, and there was no convenient way to keep the door open to allow for some fresh air circulation. A door stopper would have made a noticeable difference in the overall comfort of the space.

COMPLIMENTARY BREAKFAST

The best part about this hotel was undoubtedly the free breakfast. While complimentary breakfasts are typically nothing special and often subpar, it was quite the opposite experience here. We were genuinely surprised at the impressive variety of the food items available. Moreover, we even had a delightful choice between a Western breakfast and a traditional Japanese breakfast, which added an exciting twist to our morning routine.

The only thing we had to remember during our stay was to make breakfast reservations the night prior. A breakfast sign-up sheet was conveniently placed at the front desk in the lobby area, which made it easy for guests to jot down their names before heading back up to their rooms. This small detail helped streamline the breakfast process and ensured that everyone could enjoy their meal without any hassle.
