The Best and Easiest Way To Water Plants While on Vacation for Two Weeks

I travel a lot and needed a way to water all of my plants while I was away on vacation for 2-3 weeks. I have about 10-15 indoor plants right now and my collection keeps growing. Plants just make me happy.
I’ve had most of my plants for about 2 years now and most of them have survived even though I was away traveling for two weeks or more.
The longest I’ve been away was 3 weeks and my plants still survived when I returned home. There were one or two plants where some of the leaves were starting to turn brown, but after I gave it more water, it was back to its healthy self.
So, the secret to keeping all my plants alive are plant watering stakes. I’ve tried many different methods before including water globes, but those things suck up water so fast that they only lasted a day or two, so it definitely did not work out for me.
Of course, you can also ask your friends or family to take care of your plants while you are away, but I have so many plants now that I feel bad asking someone to take care of all of them for me. And I don’t want to put the pressure and responsibility on them either.
You can also find plant sitters and pay them to water your plants for you, but I’m already paying for plenty of other expenses when I travel, so I want to save some money there.
So in the end, these water stakes were the winner. I’ve gone on several vacations where I was away for two weeks and each time, all my plants survived because of these.
They are super simple to use. All you do is submerge the stakes in a bowl of water for about 15 minutes and let them absorb the water.
Then you fill-up the stake with water and stick it in the soil. The other end goes into the container of water where the plant will get its water source from.
The plant should be higher than the container holding the water. And you let the watering stakes do the rest of the work while you enjoy your vacation.
I would recommend testing these out first before you go on vacation to see how much water your plants take from the container.
About two to three days before I leave, I thoroughly water all my plants. Then the day before I leave, I set up the water stakes for my plants.
I usually set up 3-4 different bowls and they each have about 2-4 tubes going into each depending on the size of the container and the plant.
For all of my succulents and snake plants, I just give them water the day before I leave and they are fine for 2-3 weeks.
