We were visiting family and close friends for the holidays in Pensacola, Florida, from December 20 to December 25. Pensacola is situated in Northwest Florida, and the temperatures here are certainly quite different from those in Miami, which is located much further to the south.

When we checked the weather for our upcoming trip, the forecast indicated there would be some chilly mornings and nights, dipping down to the low forties, which made us a bit nervous about just how cold it was going to be during our stay.

However, much to our relief, we found that it wasn’t bad at all. Having a reliable winter coat was sufficient enough without the need for extra accessories like gloves, hats, and scarves. During the daytime, we encountered beautiful, sunny weather with temperatures reaching the sixties, so wearing a cozy sweater or a light jacket provided plenty of warmth.

There were moments when we were sitting directly in the sun where it became a little too warm for a sweater, but for the most part, the temperatures were quite pleasant and comfortable.

Here are some of the outfits we ended up wearing during our visit to Pensacola, Florida.

Crystal’s Outfit #1

Crystal’s wardrobe lately has been sprinkled with an array of styles from Anthropologie. I have been loving Crystal’s recent style picks, and she’s kind of giving off these cool, playful anime-inspired outfits that really suit her. Each outfit reflects her personality beautifully and adds a fun twist to her overall look.

Bennet Button Down Shirt by Maeve

For her first outfit, she chose to wear Anthropologie’s Bennet Button Down Shirt by Maeve. This stylish piece is a fantastic oversized button down staple that is essential to have in your wardrobe for a variety of occasions.

It’s become one of Anthropologie’s bestselling item, as it features a tailored yet relaxed fit complemented by a trendy high-low shirttail hem that adds just the right touch of flair. Since the top by itself is a tad too chilly for this time of year, underneath she wore Uniqlo’s Heattech Shirt. This clever under layer provided the extra warmth needed for the cooler weather, and its thin material ensures that it can be comfortably worn without feeling too bulky underneath her button down shirt.

For bottoms, Crystal styled the top with Anthropologie’s Tilda Maxi Slip Skirt. This skirt features a gorgeous slim silhouette that gracefully drapes down to the ankle, creating an elegant look. Its French-inspired bias-cut design is incredibly chic and versatile, allowing it to be styled effortlessly with a variety of tops for different occasions.

To pull the entire look together seamlessly (and my personal favorite accessory she chose to wear on this trip), she wrapped around her collar Tiesmart’s Pretied Zipper Tie. This versatile tie can be easily adjusted with a convenient pre-tied zipper mechanism, and the not too shiny satin finish blends beautifully and harmoniously with her striped top.

Candy’s Outfit #1

For my first outfit, I wore a neutral wool blend sleeveless sweater top from Mint Velvet. I purchased this sweater last month when we visited London, and I have worn it on repeat ever since that trip. Initially, I was hesitant to buy a sweater with short sleeves, as I felt that this design might not provide enough warmth during cooler days. However, this was not the case at all. The turtle neckline offers extra insulation, and wearing Uniqlo’s Heattech Shirt underneath ensured that I stayed cozy and comfortable throughout the day.

My go-to pair of pants for Fall and Winter has always been my cream colored wide leg pants from Express. I have had these pants for several years now, and without fail, 99% of the time, they make it into my suitcase for my travels during the cooler months. They are incredibly comfortable, have the perfect high waist that flatters my figure, and it gives off that relaxed glamour vibe that I adore. The combination of style and comfort makes them an essential part of my seasonal wardrobe.

Crystal’s Outfit #2

Crystals’ second outfit had an edgy feminine vibe that truly stood out. She paired Quince’s Cashmere Short-Sleeve Sweater with Free People’s Lady Luxe Layering Top, creating a look that was both stylish and unique. The sheer top is not only ideal for layering but also features a delicate floral embroidery design that enhances its appeal. The fluttery hemline is particularly flattering, adding an elegant touch of drama to the neckline that makes the whole outfit even more eye-catching.

For contrast, Crystal chose to wear Zara’s Z1975 Straight Cut High Waist Ankle Jeans. The unfinished hem adds an edgy character to the jeans, creating a contrast to her outfit. It’s quite rare to see Crystal opt for belts, but with this particular outfit, she decided to wear a belt that not only defined her waistline but also introduced a visual break that enhanced the overall look significantly.

When it got a little bit chilly outside, she casually threw on her single breasted long coat from GU. This brand is a sister brand to UNIQLO, and they carry a vast array of essential basic style staples that appeal to many. It’s generally cheaper than UNIQLO, so the overall quality does reflect their lower price point. However, luckily for her, this particular coat has been going strong and holding up well for a few years now, despite frequent wear.

Candy’s Outfit #2

For my top, I wore my cozy wool blend striped sweater from Zara. I purchased this sweater a few seasons ago, so unfortunately, this particular piece is no longer available for purchase; however, there are several other brands that make a variety of similar striped sweaters. I truly love the classic striped pattern because it is a timeless fashion staple that offers incredible versatility in styling options. Stripes also add an appealing visual interest to any outfit, enhancing the overall look.

Ever since I purchased my very first pair of high-rise denim trousers from J Crew last year, I’ve found myself completely obsessed with their jeans collection. Although their price point is slightly higher than what I typically spend on jeans, I usually make it a point to wait for one of their sales (which they seem to have all the time). When the Sailor Denim Trousers went on sale, I snagged them just in time for my upcoming trip to Florida. I absolutely adore the polished patch pockets and the slightly flared silhouette that adds a unique flair to my outfits.

The fabric has a slight stretch to it as well, so they are incredibly comfortable to wear throughout the entire day. I have to have a certain amount of stretch in my jeans, but not too much. Just enough to keep me feeling comfortable while still maintaining structure, so they don’t resemble jeggings in any way.

When it got a little chilly at night, I would throw on my long wool blend coat from Zara. I appreciate Zara’s winter coat styles because every season they always have a wide and impressive variety of long coats to choose from. I chose this particular coat not just for its warmth, but also because the versatile color complements a variety of outfits beautifully. Additionally, the slightly oversized style of the coat makes it more relaxed and also incredibly comfortable.

Crystal’s Outfit #3

Crystal’s third outfit is playful and includes a myriad of cute details that are adorable. The Porridge Graphic Numbers Sweater from Anthropologie boasts wide sleeves, a cozy ribbed trim, and a sporty number on the front that gives it a fun twist. Underneath this sweater, Crystal opted for a Fake Detachable Dickey Collar. This innovative collar design is not only genius but also so much more practical than wearing an actual collared button-down shirt tucked underneath a sweater or sweatshirt.

Whenever we try to wear a collared shirt underneath a sweater, it often bunches up and becomes uncomfortable, particularly when it comes to the challenge of tucking it in neatly. This innovative fake collar effectively eliminates all those annoying issues, and the collar pops out over the sweater with a stylish flair that looks great.

Her favorite Pleated Black Shorts are from Express, a piece that has comfortably resided in Crystal’s closet for several years now. Not only are they incredibly comfortable, but they also provide a flattering fit and are wrinkle-resistant, ensuring they look polished even after hours of wear throughout the day.

In the winter months, she especially enjoys wearing them over tights for added warmth and style. This year, her pick was a unique and fun pair of Fishnet Tights adorned with charming heart patterns, which added a delightful touch to her outfit.

ACCESSORIES

Bags

Depending on the specific outfit and the unique occasion, we enjoy switching between various bag styles to best suit our needs. For this particular trip, we brought along Madewell’s Zip-Top Medium Transport Tote as well as Bandolier’s Miller Bag. We both own the Madewell tote bag since it’s incredibly versatile and matches just about any outfit we might choose to wear. One of our favorite and most practical features is the zipper, which uniquely sets this tote bag apart from the rest of the options available on the market.

With most tote bags typically lacking zippers, this particular unique find offers an added layer of security for our belongings, which is something we truly appreciate. Additionally, we love the feature of interchangeable straps, as it allows us to easily switch up the style to align perfectly with our various outfits.

I only used the tote bag during my time in Pensacola, but Crystal also occasionally wore the Miller Bag. The Miller Bag features a distinctive rectangular silhouette, complemented by an exterior molded slip pocket, which is specifically designed to accommodate your phone while ensuring quick and easy accessibility whenever you need it.

Additionally, you have the flexibility to personalize your Miller Bag by exchanging the straps for a different style or even adding a cute exterior accessory, such as keychains, to make the bag truly your own.

We are huge fans of Bandolier, which is why we always make sure to have our trusty Bandolier phone straps along with the bags. It’s truly an accessory we just can’t live without, as it not only adds a stylish touch but also keeps us from misplacing our phones in busy environments.

Footwear

For footwear, Crystal wore her trusted Carnegie Boots from Marcella. These stylish chunky platform boots pay homage to the classic Chelsea boot silhouette, featuring a rounded toe and convenient elastic paneling that makes them easy to slip on and off.

I chose to wear my comfy Michaela Mary Jane’s from Sam Edelman. I love these Mary Jane’s so much that I decided to purchase them in a lovely cream color as well. The leather is buttery soft, and the timeless design never seems to get old no matter the season. The squared toe enhances their comfort level, and the sleek strap detail makes them the ideal casual flat for both work and leisurely activities.

Jewelry

We both have similar styles when it comes to jewelry these days. Lately, we've been gravitating towards  Quince for our accessory fix. What's even more exciting is that Quince offers fine-quality jewelry at incredibly affordable prices, making it easy to indulge in our love for accessories without breaking the bank.

Another brand we both are drawn to is Gorjana. Not only is their price point affordable, but their collection of necklaces is absolutely stunning. We find ourselves drawn to their versatile pieces that are perfect for layering, allowing us to create unique and personalized looks.

Crystal is a huge fan of Kristin Cavallari and adores her jewelry line called Uncommon James. She finds that Kristin's designs are always on-trend and matches her current style. Her favorite necklace right now that she wears almost daily is the Enamel Heart Necklace.

A recent favorite of Crystal’s is a brand called J&Co Jewellry. Known for crafting affordable everyday luxury jewelry, each piece is meticulously handmade by skilled artisans. Among their collection, her current top choice is their Ear Threader style, adding a modern and sophisticated flair to her look.

A recent favorite of mine is Missoma. Missoma is a British demi-fine jewelry brand and their price points are a tad higher compared to your normal high street brands. I was drawn to their vintage inspired designs and have been wearing the Mini Pave Spike Charm Hoop Earrings on repeat. Crystal likes to wear Missoma’s Claw Lacuna Ear Cuff when she isn’t wearing her Wide Ear Cuff’s from Quince.

Nails

We’ve never really shared what we typically do with our nails when we go on trips, but we thought it might be a nice idea to discuss it this time since I tried something a bit different. Normally when we travel we like to wear nail strips, which are essentially nail stickers, from the brand Dashing Diva as they are both durable and last for a minimum of two weeks. We find that we both prefer gel strips over the traditional experience of going to a nail salon, and they are significantly more cost-effective, averaging about $10.00.

For this particular trip, I decided to try out press-on nails from Glamnetic. The whole process of applying these nails is a bit more labor intensive, but I still find it to be a more economical option compared to the traditional visit to the nail salon, which can often be quite pricey. I truly love the way these nails look—their design is both stylish and striking—but I definitely can’t wear them at home since I cook and clean on a daily basis, so they are just reserved exclusively for my trips.

We had an absolutely amazing time in Pensacola catching up with our friends and family, creating great memories, and we genuinely wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the moments. The slightly chilly mornings and evenings were beautifully balanced with delightfully warm afternoons, making it essential to have a variety of options for our outfits throughout the day to ensure comfort during our stay.
