Adorable Corgi Themed Cafe in California with Delicious Soufflé Pancakes

Crystal is a proud parent of a tiny four-legged female corgi named Kuma, so when we found out about a corgi themed cafe, we immediately made plans to visit. The cafe is called Cafe De.r which proudly serves their famed soufflé pancakes and is apparently the first-ever dessert shop making soufflés in the Los Angeles region. Soufflé pancakes originated from Japan, which took us by surprise. Despite being half Japanese and making yearly visits to Japan, we’ve never had one.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
If you are a corgi parent or simply a corgi fan, you will immediately fall in love with the cafe. Every wall is corgi themed and the menu has plenty of items with adorable corgi accessories or garnishes. One wall was plastered with polaroids of customers and their corgis, which shows how much they love these dogs.
The indoor space is on the smaller side with a few tables and some high chairs by a window, but there is seating outdoors as well.
SOUFFLÉ PANCAKES
On top of the corgi theme, this cafe is the FIRST dessert shop in the Los Angeles area that bakes soufflés. They have several different soufflés including Original, Creme Brûlée, Matcha, Chocolate, Strawberry and more. The most interesting one we saw on the menu was purple yam. We went with the Original and Creme Brûlée soufflés.

If you would like to try one of these scrumptious soufflés, you will need to order them in the afternoon. The cafe only serves them after 1 PM. We’re so glad we noticed this on YELP because a lot of people showed up in the morning not knowing this and were disappointed.
Creme Brûlée Soufflé Pancake
Both pancakes were fluffy, airy, and jiggled (similar to a corgi butt). They also both came with a side of strawberries and whip cream. The Original soufflé wasn’t sweet at all and didn’t really have much flavor. The strawberry sauce that came with the Original soufflé is definitely needed.
The Creme Brûlée, on the other hand, was fantastic. We couldn’t stop eating it. It had just the right amount of sweetness and the burnt caramelized sugar on top was the best. Creme Brûlée and soufflé definitely go hand in hand.
Since the Original soufflé wasn’t that sweet, we shared some of it with Kuma and of course she loved it. She was enjoying it so much that she started to eat the fork too.

DRINKS
Cafe D.er also has the cutest beverages. If you want a corgi themed drink, there are four hot drinks you can choose from including coffee and lattes that come with a corgi marshmallow. They also serve cold drinks that come with a corgi drink holder. There are multiple other drinks you can choose from like milk tea and cheese foam tea, but of course, we had to go with the corgi themed drinks.
Crystal ordered an Americano which came with the adorable corgi marshmallow and I ordered the Corgi Galaxy Dream (Strawberry and Lemonade) which came with the corgi cup holder. Crystal tried to get the corgi marshmallow to float on top of the coffee for a picture, but it was a big fail. We’re pretty sure you need to get a latte with foam in order for the corgi marshmallow to stay on top upright. The coffee was still good and Crystal enjoyed drinking it from her red corgi mug.

The Corgi Galaxy Dream was VERY sweet. I should have asked for a ton of ice to dilute it. The flavors were great, but I don’t have a sweet tooth so I wasn’t able to finish my drink. The great thing about the drink was the adorable cup holder it came with. It’s made of cloth and reusable and such a cute way to carry your drink.

IRRESISTABLE CORGI MERCHANDISE
We’re usually not suckers for cafe merchandise, but when it comes to corgis, Crystal will go all out. There were tons of cute corgi merchandise everywhere and Crystal basically wanted to buy the whole store. They had cups, mugs, hats, stickers, pillows, blankets, totes, keychains, headbands, and more. Everything was so darn cute that it’s practically hard to resist if you are a corgi fan.

Crystal looked like she was a kid in a candy store ordering all the corgi merchandise. She ended up getting the red corgi mug, corgi blanket, corgi socks, corgi wallet, corgi mask, and a corgi headband. Fun fact: their top-selling item is the corgi mousepad. Crystal was thinking about getting one of those too but wasn’t sure if her desk had the room, so opted not to.

ARE THERE CORGIS AT THE CAFE?
Yes and no. The cafe has a ton of corgi themed merchandise, but there isn’t an in-house real-life corgi that roams around the cafe. There are occasional guest appearances by Nayo the Corgi or you might see a corgi if customers bring their own adorable fur babies.

PARKING
There are a handful of parking spots behind the building. If you can’t find a spot, we read reviews that underground parking was also available. However, we didn’t see any underground parking structure but may have missed it since we weren’t really looking for it. There is some street parking available, but make sure to read the parking signs.

FINAL THOUGHTS
If you love corgis and/or pancake soufflés, this is a great cafe to visit. The employee helping us was very nice and helpful. He made sure we had the best experience while we were visiting and he inspected the merchandise before ringing them up to make sure nothing was damaged.
We both enjoyed our fresh desserts; especially the Creme Brûlée soufflé pancake. Do keep in mind that these are made-to-order, so you will be waiting longer for these than your usual buttermilk pancakes. I believe we waited about 20 minutes for our soufflé pancakes and it was well worth it.
Currently, the cafe is only taking orders for carryout due to the pandemic. Orders can be placed prior to or at the time of your visit.
* Please note that the cafe normally does not allow dogs indoors for hygiene reasons. We were able to let Kuma inside for filming since there was no indoor dining at the time of our visit. During normal circumstances, the store offers an outdoor play and seating area for dogs.
