One thing we look forward to when traveling is the dining experience. Fortunately, in our recurrent visits to San Diego, we are consistently met with exceptional culinary adventures. The food scene in this city is vibrant and offers a plethora of new and enticing options to explore.

1. Rustic Root

If you are in the mood for elevated American comfort food, you need to dine at this restaurant. We were initially drawn to the rooftop dining experience, but our taste buds were pleasantly surprised by the explosion of flavors in every bite of the dishes.

We indulged in an array of dishes to share amongst ourselves, savoring each and every bite. The Rustic Fried Chicken with Chile Cornbread and Corn Potage was definitely the standout dish for us. The Corn Potage, a small accompanying side to the RFC, left us wanting more with its rich and irresistible flavor. We found ourselves indulging in it so much that we couldn't resist scraping the bowl clean.

Everywhere you turn, you’ll notice the attention to detail like the egg shaped salt and pepper shakers or our favorite was the to-go coffee cups. They put such a fun twist on their coffee cup sleeve (you’ll have to go to experience this), which is something that never gets any thought put into it. Every Breakfast Republic has a merchandise wall of branded apparel, cups, plates, and more to take home a piece of your experience here.

6. Fig Tree Cafe

Not until writing this post did I discover that Fig Tree Cafe and Breakfast Republic share the same owner. Despite the common ownership, the vibes at each establishment are strikingly different. Fig Tree Cafe boasts a bright and spacious layout, adorned with decor that exudes a quintessential California beach feel.

Emphasizing their commitment to fresh, local ingredients, the cafe sources produce and eggs from a family farm in Ramona, while also contributing to community initiatives. Opting to swap my hash browns for extra eggs, I can attest to the excellence of their egg dishes.
