Ciccio Restaurant Group does it again. They added another hit food establishment in the SoHo (South Howard) neighborhood of Tampa - Sweet Soul. SoHo is already booming with popular restaurants and cafes like Green Lemon, Fresh Kitchen and Daily Eats thanks to CRG. Now, they’ve added Sweet Soul, a healthy sweet treats shop featuring superfoods like acai bowls and vegan choices like matcha soft serve.
Sweet Soul is the perfect place for you to indulge in sweet treats without feeling guilty. They serve all vegan, paleo and plant-based items that all benefit the body in some way. Two of my favorite ingredients lately are matcha, a.k.a. green tea, which is high in antioxidants, and charcoal, which helps with your skin complexion. Sweet Soul has a unique soft serve that mixes both of my favorites!
Sweet Soul offers soul bowls, smoothies, and snacks. Candy and I both ordered a soul bowl but added different ingredients to each. You get four choices in your bowl:
1 - Choose one base
2 - Choose three sweets
3 - Choose two toppings
4 - Choose one drizzle or dusting
I chose the Vegan Vanilla Bean Charcoal Soft Serve for my base and topped it off with strawberries, pineapples, gluten-free matcha cookie and matcha granola. Candy chose the Pure Acai as her base and topped it off with raspberry, blueberry, blackberry, sliced almonds, and drizzled honey. I didn’t add a drizzle or dusting but looking back now, I should have added the matcha powder. The charcoal soft serve was delicious and what I loved the most was the matcha cookie. I haven’t had a cookie this tasty in awhile and it’s somewhat healthy.
I later learned that Sweet Soul is pet-friendly, so I went back for a visit with my corgi, Kuma. We both ordered something from their Snack section and I got the Vegan Ice Cream Sandwich and Kuma got the Vegan Dog Ice Cream. My ice cream sandwich had charcoal soft serve sandwiched between two matcha cookies and it was absolutely divine. I can eat a whole batch of those matcha cookies! Kuma liked her dog ice cream as well and since it was frozen, she took her time to enjoy it rather than gulping it down like she usually does.
The inside of the shop is rather small with a bar and 6 stools but there is additional seating outside. The outside area is really cute with 4 stools in front of the colorful building and also picnic tables to the side. They even have a ping pong table for customers to enjoy.
There’s also a little garden in the back where they grow avocado, lemons, kale, pineapple, strawberries and more. So when they say their ingredients are locally sourced, it’s literally in their backyard. You might also catch a glimpse of some of their beautiful chickens in the coop too.
One thing I really love about Sweet Soul is that they have ample parking. I panic a little when it comes to finding parking on South Howard. It’s always difficult to find street parking and I can’t parallel park, so it stresses me out. Sweet Soul has a few parking spots up front and also a huge lot in the back for additional parking.
So, to summarize, Sweet Soul has healthy sweet treats that taste amazing, has plenty of parking, is pet-friendly and has fun vibes. I foresee myself coming here every weekend with Kuma.
