When we made a weekend trip with our pups to Oceanside, California, we were pleased to find so many dog-friendly establishments. Here are our top seven suggestions for dog-friendly restaurants, cafes, and bars.
1. Rooftop Bar
@rooftopbaroside
201 N Myers St, Oceanside, CA 92054
The Rooftop bar is a great place to grab some light bites and craft cocktails. This was our favorite place to hang with our pups since the staff showered our pups with so much love and attention.
They offer an array of unique craft cocktails and Baja-inspired bites. If you want to catch the best sunset views in town, definitely make reservations at the Rooftop Bar.
2. Piper
@piperoceanside
105 Mission Ave, Oceanside, CA 92054
Located inside the Seabird Resort, it’s just off the gorgeous Oceanside City Beach. The space has a soft palette with natural textures and a warm natural light that creates the perfect beach-inspired atmosphere.
The presentation of the dishes is exquisite and the garden-to-table delicacies are super fresh. We highly recommend trying their chef’s favorite - Caramelized French Toast.
3. Carte Blanche Bistro & Bar
@eatcarteblanche
339 N Cleveland St, Oceanside, CA 92054
We had no idea what kind of cuisine Carte Blanche served so when we learned that it was a French-inspired Mexican Bistro, we were intrigued. They use fresh and locally sourced ingredients and create rustic-style dishes.
Their outdoor patio had a ton of heaters and a firepit heater on the table, so if you are visiting during the colder months, you’ll be cozy and toasty with your pups. We ordered a variety of items as the bistro-style dishes are meant to be shared.
The one thing you must order here is their fabulous Margarita Oh Là Là . Crystal loved it so much that she couldn’t stop talking about it. She especially enjoyed the lilikoi foam and black sea salt, which is something she has never seen in a margarita.

4. Parlor Doughnuts
@parlordoughnut
331 N Cleveland St, Oceanside, CA 92054
When we heard that Parlor Doughnuts had dog donuts, we had to get them for our pups. The Dog Doughnuts look just like human donuts and are a pretty generous size.
We were also pleasantly surprised that the pups were allowed in the store with us which we really appreciated since we don’t like to leave them tied up outside to a chair.
These layered donuts are extremely popular and are a delicious hybrid of a croissant and a donut. They have many fun flavors to choose from like Campfire, Churro, Strawberry Shortcake, and more. They even have keto and gluten-friendly/vegan donuts.
5. The Plot
@theplotrestaurant
1733 S Coast Hwy, Oceanside, CA 92054
The Plot is a plant-based restaurant with an adorable outdoor space. Both the indoor and outdoor space is cozy and very welcoming. We were actually offered indoor dining with the pups, which was a first for us, but we preferred sitting outside.
The staff is all very friendly and the food portions are generous. If you are someone that is looking for vegan or gluten-free options, the plot has been voted best new restaurant in 2020 by The San Diego Tribune and more.
6. Beach Break Cafe
@beachbreakcafe
1802 S Coast Hwy, Oceanside, CA 92054
If you are someone that is big on portions, you will fall in love with Beach Break Cafe. The diner-style cafe is colorful and offers traditional American dishes.
If you come here with your fur baby, they have a special entrance to their covered patio. We ordered a variety of dishes and our absolute favorite was their popular coffee cake.
They bake their coffee cake daily on rotation so there is fresh warm cake throughout the day. We just love cakes that come fresh out of the oven. It’s the best especially with a cup of coffee.
7. Hi/Low
@hilowoside
201 N Myers St, Oceanside CA 92054
Hi/Low is located inside the Mission Pacific Hotel and has a fantastic outdoor dining space with front-row views of the ocean. They are super dog-friendly and Zooey especially enjoyed their cushioned bench seats.
They serve an all-day breakfast menu and everything is made from scratch with fresh, all-natural ingredients. Our favorite item here was their flaky croissants. If you are a croissant connoisseur, you must get one here.
We were so pleasantly surprised that many of the places we dined at welcomed our fur babies indoors and seating off the floor. This is the first city we visited with our pups that truly treated them like family.
One More Thing…
If you want to explore a variety of foods in one location, every Thursday night, Oceanside hosts the Sunset Market from 5-9 PM. Admission is free, family-friendly, and dog-friendly.
Sunset Market
@oceansidesunsetmarket
316 Mission Ave., Oceanside, CA 92054
Oceanside's Sunset Market gathers local farmers, artists, and chefs from all over the world. It's a wonderful way to spend a Thursday evening with friends and family and this includes your fur baby.
There is an amazing selection of gourmet cuisines, which makes it really hard to pick one vendor. The great thing is that the average cost for a plate of food is between $5-$6, so the prices make it affordable to try more than one cuisine, which you will definitely be enticed to do.
Looking To Stay in Town?
We stayed at the super dog-friendly Mission Pacific Hotel. The Mission Pacific is a Category 5 Hyatt property and is situated right next to the Oceanside Pier. They have an amazing gift bag for your pup upon arrival and they can pretty much accompany you everywhere within the property.
