What if we told you that we found an accommodation that combines the reliability and consistency of a hotel and the warmth and comfort of a space that felt like home? You probably would think that this doesn’t exist, but we are here to tell you that it does! Staying at a Sonder is your answer.

When traveling, one of the biggest expenses besides the flight is accommodations. This part of travel planning can be a bit stressful if you don’t want to regret cutting costs and end up staying somewhere that made your trip somewhat miserable. Getting a good night’s rest with a comfy room is what we all want in our travel accommodations, but then there are other things that factor into your stay: location, service, and reliability.

When we were Googling for a place to stay in Little Italy San Diego, we came across Sonder and couldn’t believe we didn’t discover them sooner. Sonder was established in 2014 when the founders had some bad luck with an apartment they booked on one of their trips. After their unfortunate experience, they didn’t want to have to choose between great service and authentic travel experience, so they combined the two components and established Sonder. It’s truly amazing that every Sonder is located in the perfect location within the best neighborhoods around the world.

Encountering exceptional service and staying in the perfect location is what every traveler wants but there was one more thing that Sonder provides: Style! All of their rooms have so much style and character. Every corner of the room is thoughtfully decorated from the adorable accent pillows to the fun coffee table books. Sonder definitely isn’t your average stay and here are our top reasons why we loved our stay so much:

Reliable Service

We stay at a variety of places when we travel and one thing that is always on the back of our minds is, “I hope it’s just as it’s described.” We do our due diligence and read reviews before we book anything and, *knock on wood*, we’ve never had a horrible experience. The great thing about Sonder is that we don’t have to spend time reading any reviews. All Sonder stays have amazing consistent reliable service and are located in the best neighborhoods.

During our stay, we didn’t have to contact Sonder for anything (as everything was perfect), but it was nice to have that reassurance that they were just a phone call or text away if we needed anything. In our emails and on the dining table they left a note reminding us that they were reachable 24 hours a day.

Rooms with A Hip Modern Design

One thing that immediately jumped out to us was the exciting and modern designs of each Sonder room. Every room is decorated differently so no room is the same. Each one is unique and has its own charm, which made it difficult for us to pick a room! Selecting a room was actually the fun part for us because there were so many different options and each room had so much appeal and character. Little Italy in San Diego definitely had some of the best decorated rooms.

We absolutely loved the chic and modern vibe of the room we chose. The colorful accent rug was one of our favorite things along with the fun, tropical wallpaper behind the bed. We definitely took advantage of the space with some fun photo opportunities and Instagram boomerangs.

Exceptional Attention to Details

From the moment we booked our room online we received timely emails informing us about our upcoming stay. It was nice to know ahead of time about our check-in instructions, wifi password, and parking information. Having these details beforehand really helps us plan the rest of our stay with ease.

The attention to detail doesn’t stop there. The kitchen was stocked with all the necessities and they even provided small condiments like olive oil if we wanted to cook a meal. Buying those basic condiments like salt and pepper can really add unwanted costs to a trip.

Not only was the room beautifully decorated, but it also had everything to make our stay comfortable. We had plenty of towels, tons of outlets, a spacious bathroom (stocked with toiletries), and there was even a washer and dryer located in a huge walk-in closet. Our bed was comfy and there was no shortage of pillows. They really thought of everything to make it feel like we were at home.

Location, Location, Location!

The location was the best part about about our stay at Sonder. It was located in a vibrant neighborhood with endless things to see and do. We couldn’t have asked for a better location in Little Italy. We were in the middle of everything and didn’t need a car to go anywhere. We didn’t even have to catch an Uber and utilized the convenient ride share scooters that were plentiful in Little Italy.

Every morning we walked or took a scooter to a different coffee shop for breakfast. It was so nice having breakfast amongst the locals in a pleasant setting in the neighborhood. Not only did we enjoy our coffee and dining options in the area, but we also loved visiting the local farmer’s market and even got to experience life on a submarine at the Maritime Museum on the harbor.

Conclusion

We could not have asked for a better stay and location. Every day we were so excited to get up and start the day in this charming neighborhood. We did so much over the weekend and having a convenient location made our stay much more enjoyable. We were so pleased with our stay at Sonder that we immediately started looking into their international locations for our next getaway.
