Lately, Amazon Fashion has been our go-to when it comes to buying clothes online. A few years ago, we would have never thought about buying clothes or accessories on Amazon for a couple of reasons: 1) Their selection was limited and 2) Many items were poor or cheap quality.
That is certainly not the case now. In the last couple of years, Amazon has stepped it up and made its way into the fashion scene with The Drop and Shop by shopbop. And if you have a Prime membership, you can try on certain clothes free for a week without paying anything with Prime Wardrobe.
We have noticed these changes and have been purchasing clothes and accessories for our travels more and more. We put together a list of our favorite fashion finds from Amazon that is great for both traveling and everyday use.
Note: Star ratings are based on a 0-5 scale. One star is the lowest rating, and five stars are the highest score.
1. Oversized Tartan Wrap - 4.5 stars
This wrap was fantastic for our Banff National Park trip as it was an awesome layering piece and it’s also a great travel item in general. It comes in handy in so many ways like using it as a blanket on cold flights and using it as a scarf to add that extra stylish element. The fabric is also very soft and you feel super cozy with this oversized wrap. The best part is that it comes at a great price at just under $12.
2. Warrior Mesh Leggings - 4 stars
Wearing a simple pair of black leggings can get a little boring sometimes so it’s nice to have a pair of leggings that have a bit of an edge to them to spruce up an outfit. These Warrior Mesh leggings are high-waisted and the asymmetrical mesh panels wrap around the leg beautifully. Not only is the fabric super soft but it’s also moisture-wicking.
3. DIFF Cat Eyes Sunglasses - 4.5 stars
These are our go-to sunglasses for every occasion. I love a pair of big cat-eye lenses and even better that they are polarized. Another thing that I like about this brand, in particular, is that they are a charitable brand that has partnered with organizations that give a pair of free reading glasses to those in need.
4. Sorel Kinetic Short Insulated Winter Boots - 4.5 stars
Function meets fashion! The first comment I received when I wore these boots was, “They look so futuristic!”. I’ve been wanting a good pair of winter boots that I can wear both at home and on my travels. I do a lot of hiking with my pup, Zooey, and these have been fantastic. They feature 100g insulation, have microfleece lining, and are waterproof. I can’t wait to wear them on my next winter adventure.
5. Pacsafe Anti-Theft Backpack - 4.5 stars
We are huge fans of Pacsafe’s women’s anti-theft backpacks and travel everywhere with our CitySafe CX backpacks. What initially drew us to the CitySafe CX Pacsafe bags were the feminine designs. More often than not, travel backpacks have a sporty look, which doesn’t really match our travel style which is more on the casual side. Not only is it the perfect carry-on bag, but it’s also perfect for traveling because it comes with many anti-theft features including RFID-safe technology.
6. Supersoft Terry Long-Sleeve Hooded Pullover- 4.5 stars
This amazingly soft shirt is a great staple piece to have in your closet. It matches just about any pair of leggings or pants and the curved hem adds a modern twist to the slouchy hoodie.
7. Spanx Moto Leggings - 4 stars
I wear these Spanx moto leggings everywhere and when it comes to my long-haul flights these leggings hit all the elements I look for: perfect rise, adequate stretch, and they look great when I touch down.
8. Skechers Mary Jane Flats - 4 stars
Crystal has been wearing these Skechers shoes for years. She loves them so much that she has bought multiple pairs over the years and even buys backups. It’s perfect for traveling because it gives you that extra comfort with the Memory Foam cushioned comfort insole. Plus, it’s easy to slip on and off.
9. Bandolier Belinda 4.5 stars
When we originally discovered the Bandolier, we were very impressed with its sleek look and functionality. The crossbody phone case is designed to have the phone secured around the body which makes it easy to handle your phone. Plus, it comes with a snapback rear pocket that can hold your ID and credit cards. We no longer had to find our phones in our purses or worry that we’d drop the phone while taking a picture. We were truly hands-free and this made a world of difference for us on our travels and at home. There are a ton of strap designs, but our favorite is the gold chain strap called Belinda.
10. Cabeau Evolution S3 Travel Pillow 4.5 stars
Obviously the main reason why we love this travel pillow is for its comfort. We’ve been through a handful of travel pillows over the years and Cabeau’s premium memory foam beats them all. Cabeau recently launched some limited edition colors that seriously upgrade your airport style. You can say goodbye to your basic red or black travel pillows and spice up your travel attire with colors like Mermaid Blue or Silver Holographic. You’ll actually be proud to sport your travel pillow around your neck before you step foot inside the aircraft cabin.
11. Nine West Flats 4.5 stars
If you’re looking for a pair of flats that can be dressed both up or down, these Nine West flats are perfect. They also take up very little room in your luggage which is great for minimalist packers. Even our little sister, who lives in Japan, owns a pair of these and she wears them everywhere.
12. Splendid Cherie Ankle Boot - 5 stars
When I want to dress up my look or elongate my legs a little, these are my go-to booties. The leather is super soft and breathable and I love the chunky heels. My feet can’t withstand stilettos anymore so wearing a pair of boots with chunky heels not only provides better stability, but it also gives a greater surface area to distribute my body weight more. I can’t do a full day of sightseeing in these, but I can definitely wear them for several hours which is great for a night out of dinner and drinks.
13. Leg Warmers - 4.5 stars
Leg warmers always remind us of those ‘80s workout videos or ballet dancers. We like to wear our leggings for a long day of sightseeing in colder climates. This worked out perfectly for our trip in Banff during September. We started out wearing the leg warmers in the morning when it was chilly and after walking for several hours, we took them off since we were getting a little warm. They take up little room in our backpacks which is great if you’re limited on space.
14. Cole Haan White Sneakers - 4 stars
We have both been searching for a pair of white sneakers that were lightweight and comfortable, especially for our travels. We also wanted a pair of white sneakers that were completely white with no logos or any sort of design on it so that it can match just about anything in our wardrobe. We both own the exact same pair and love them so much that we are thinking of getting them in black as well.
15. Nisolo Emma D’Orsay Oxford - 5 stars
This pair of leather oxfords are a bit of a splurge, but it’s totally worth it. The leather is gorgeous and the craftsmanship is outstanding. I absolutely love the open side slits. It adds such a unique twist to a classic oxford look. The company itself is a Certified B Corporation which means that they meet rigorous standards that meet environmental and social standards. I wish all companies were like this as it really helps consumers make better-informed buying decisions.
Amazon can be a little overwhelming if you are just poking around to browse for something new. The experience is not as easy as going compared to your favorite online retail shop, but Amazon has taken their customers’ feedback to create a better shopping experience for those of us who like to shop for fashion online.
I like to go to The Shop by shopbop on Amazon to discover new styles and brands. That’s how I discovered the Sorel boots and DIFF sunglasses.
Amazon also recently introduced The Drop, which is an exciting way to discover limited-edition collections from global fashion influencers. I have yet to purchase from The Drop, but I have been enjoying the previews and reading about the upcoming designers and their style collections. Basically, The Drop works like this: once you’ve signed up for text alerts, Amazon will send you a text when a new collection goes live. Don’t worry, you won’t get a daily text as The Drop only happens every few weeks or so.
You can also get a preview of the upcoming collection on their Instagram account @amazonthedrop.
Since each influencer-designed collection is only live for 30 hours - yes, only 30 hours - signing up for text alert is kind of crucial if you don’t want to miss out on the next big drop. Each collection is only live for a limited time since the pieces are made-to-order to reduce waste.
If you want to stop by our Amazon Shop, we added items in our store so you can see all of our fashion finds we recently purchased from Amazon.
So what do you think? Have you changed your mind about shopping for fashion on Amazon?
