I was staying in Antalya for one night with my friend, Kathy from Darling Traveler, and we were looking for a place near the water that had ocean views. We found the perfect place in charming Old Town Antalya at Bacchus Pension for less than $50 a night!

LOCATION

From the Antalya airport, it’s a short 20-minute drive. Be careful driving once you get into Old Town because the streets are super narrow. I’ve heard from fellow travelers that driving in Old Town Antalya was crazy and this is what they meant. The GPS also takes you on these tiny roads you’re not supposed to be on, so pay attention to where you’re going.

Bacchus Hotel

Bacchus Pension is in a fantastic location in the center of everything in Old Town Antalya (Kaleiçi). You can walk to many cafes, shops, and restaurants nearby. There is a beautiful park called Kecili Park that’s only a couple minutes from the hotel and you can take gorgeous pictures here in their flower garden. Plus, you’ll get stunning views overlooking the harbor.

Right around the corner is the cutest cafe called Velespit Cafe that had a colorful outdoor seating area and a variety of entrees to choose from. We ordered some appetizers and chicken salad and everything was pretty decent.

FIRST IMPRESSION

Once we got through driving those crazy little streets, we found the hotel and the staff came out to help us park the car. They took our keys and parked it for us since they have to move cars around all the time.

I’m guessing the man that was helping us was the owner or manager and he was very friendly and welcoming. He gave us a little tour of the hotel and took us upstairs to the dining area where we would have our breakfast in the morning. The view from here was breathtaking overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and we were getting really excited for our stay here.

THE ROOM

The owner/manager showed us a couple of room options, which I really appreciated because we ended up choosing the room that had a little more space. I originally booked a room with two twin beds, but he showed us another room that had a double bed and a twin size bed that was in its own little nook. The layout of this room was much better.

Room with two beds

It was a small and compact room, but very clean and modern. The size of the room didn’t bother us at all since we were only staying here for one night. Plus, you can’t beat the price.

There was a drinking station with coffee, tea, water, electric kettle, and a refrigerator. Above the drinking station was a small TV and a large closet next to it. Inside the closet were several hangers, extra blankets, and digital safe.

The twin bed had it’s own little nook

The beds were pretty decent. Nothing special about them, but we both slept great throughout the night. The double bed had two nightstands on both sides and the twin bed had one nightstand to the side. There were several outlets by the double bed, but not the twin bed.

Bathroom with shower stall

Sink area with hair dryer

The bathroom was clean with a shower stall, toilet, and sink that all worked very well. There were multiple bottles of toiletries in the shower including shampoo, conditioner, and body soap. There was a hair dryer attached to the wall by the sink where you can also plugin a shaver. There was also a separate outlet below for other styling tools like flat irons, which I used.

Everything was great in the bathroom except for the towels. I have never had towels that felt like sandpaper. They were so rough that I started laughing because they were so bad. But again, everything else was great.

AMENITIES

The best part about Bacchus Pension is definitely the sea and mountain view on their top floor where complimentary breakfast is served.

There is also a small outdoor pool, but we did not use it.

The free WiFi worked very well and Kathy even video chatted with her in-laws in Serbia with no problem.

FINAL THOUGHTS

The hotel is small (with 14 rooms) but very practical. If I ever come back to Old Town Antalya, I would definitely stay here again. You can’t beat the price and location!
