Two Shepherds Taproom - Tampa's Largest Dog Park and Bar

I have been wanting to visit Two Shepherds Taproom for awhile and found the perfect opportunity when they held a corgi meetup event. There are several dog bars in the Tampa Bay area now including The Dog Bar in St. Petersburg and Pups Pub on Kennedy, but this dog bar is by far the largest one. Their outdoor play space is over 10,000 square feet!

Two Shepherds Taproom holds fun events just about everyday of the week including Yappy Hour, Trivia Tuesday, Bingo Night, and Bottomless Mimosas.

They also have special events like dog yoga, breed meetups, and even speed dating. I thought the speed dating event was a great idea since you can immediately break the ice with your furry friend, but I was too chicken to try it out.

I did try dog yoga and that was a lot of fun. You have all these cute pups coming up to you while you’re doing poses and it makes yoga so much more enjoyable.

Two Shepherds Taproom was started by two owners, Ross O’Bryan and Patrick Verdugo. One has a German Shepherd and the other an Australian Shepherd, hence the name, Two Shepherds Taproom. I love that they named the dog bar after their fur babies.

O’Bryan originally thought of the idea when there was nowhere to take his dog, Hobbes, on a rainy day. I thought about this years ago when Kuma was a puppy and I wasn’t able to take her anywhere on a rainy Florida day. I researched online to see if there were any indoor dog parks, but none existed at the time.

In addition to the large outdoor dog park at Two Shepherds, there is also a large indoor play area for the dogs. On one side is the bar area, which I will get to in a second, and on the other side is dog run area with some agility equipment. I was super excited to see the long tunnel and weave poles because Kuma absolutely loves agility. I hope they add more agility equipment in the future.

The bar area has some bar stools where you can chat with the bartender or friends while you sip on your drink and watch your pup having fun all at the same time.

They have an extensive list of craft beers and wine including local beer from 3 Daughters Brewing and Cigar City Brewing. They also have hard seltzers like High Noon and White Claw.

If you get hungry, there is a food truck at Two Shepherds just about everyday of the week at certain hours except for Mondays when they are closed. You’ll often find Diggy Dogs, Williamsburg Cucina, and Magpie Rolling Osteria parked in front.

Next to the bar is a merchandise section where they feature dog products from local businesses. There’s a great selection of dog collars, scarves and treats along with Two Shepherds clothing merchandise. I was happy to see my friends’ dog treats, Craft Canine Treats on the shelf as well. Fun fact: Kuma’s featured on Craft Canine’s Contact page.

Throughout the indoor space, there’s also several tables with chairs scattered around too. On days where the weather is nice, the giant garage doors are left open, but on most hot Florida days, the doors are shut to keep the cool air inside.

This is super nice since Florida gets really hot during the summer and Kuma likes to chill in the A/C when it’s too hot outside.

Outside is the humungous play space for the dogs with a hose, several water tubs, some toys, water bowls, chairs and picnic tables. I love how much space there is for the dogs to run around. Kuma did some chasing, but quickly got tired and chilled in the tub a few times.

If you’re interested in visiting Two Shepherds Taproom with your pup, make sure your dog is up to date on all of their vaccinations including rabies, distemper, and bordetella. You’ll need to update the records on their website beforehand.

A day pass is $7 (it’s actually $7.53 with tax) for all-day access. You can also get a monthly membership at $25 per month or a yearly membership at $250 per year. Both memberships come with perks like a free day pass for a friend and access to member-only events.

And you can also visit even if you don’t have a dog. Come watch all the cuteness around you while you sip on a cold beer or nice wine.

If you have any questions or want to get in touch with Two Shepherds, I would reach out to them via their social media channels. They are on top of their game informing everyone about their events and more on Facebook and Instagram. They are also very fast at responding to their direct messages and comments.
