We’ve been going on a lot of road trips recently with our pups, so having a travel bag for them quickly became a necessity. We no longer use plastic bags and are properly invested in reusable dog luggage that will last through years of road trips and fun adventures.

I searched the web for hours comparing several different dog travel bags and I finally decided to purchase Lucky Tail’s Dog Travel Bag. This bag had unique features and the price point was on par with the other dog bags on the market. Here are the features that I loved most about this bag:

1. Three Convenient Ways To Carry It

I love that this bag gives me options when it comes to how I want to carry it. I can carry it in my hand, over my shoulder, or place it on top of my suitcase.

Being able to carry it in hand makes it easy to grab and go and is a feature that most bags will have. However, the removable shoulder strap isn’t a feature that all the dog bags I looked at had. Not only is the strap removable, but it also has padding to keep your shoulders comfortable.

Trolley bag sleeve for hassle-free travel

The trolley sleeve is my favorite feature when it comes to traveling with my fur baby. There’s nothing more annoying than a bag that won’t stay in place when placed on top of a suitcase. Having that sleeve secured over my suitcase handle keeps my hands free and focused on other priorities.

2. Large Collapsible Food Bowls (1000 ml)

Zooey is a medium-size pup so I wanted a collapsible food bowl that I wouldn't have to refill often. Most of the bags I looked at came with a small to medium-size bowl rather than a large bowl.

Two large collapsible food bowls can be stored in the front pocket

I have a medium size collapsible food/water bowl that I keep in my car and it’s not quite big enough for her. It’s fine for a quick drink on the go, but if I am staying at a hotel, it’s convenient to have a water bowl where she can have seconds without having to ask me immediately for a refill.

The bowls each have carabiners, so if you want to attach the bowl to the exterior of the bag, it’s a convenient option.

3. Organization Power

This bag has a ton of compartments to keep your contents organized. There are two pockets in the front, two on the side, one in the back, one inside, and a mesh divider. I can nicely arrange Zooey’s toys, treats, food, blanket, and any other home comforts we may need.

Exterior mesh pocket for convenient access

I like to keep my wet wipes in the mesh pocket for quick and easy access. I utilize the expandable side pocket to hold Zooey’s water bottle. It’s nice that it can accommodate a variety of sizes with the elastic band. This way it keeps the contents more secure.

I keep an extra leash and collar inside the bag where there is another mesh pocket. Luckily, Zooey doesn’t have to take any medication but if she did, this is where I would keep it.

4. Unique Exterior Waste Bag Dispenser

This bag stood out from its competitors as it was the only one that had an exterior waste bag dispenser. It may not seem like a big deal to some, but for me, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve run out of bags or simply forgot to bring some.

I want to be a responsible dog mom, so I stash extra bags in the exterior pocket so that I never have to leave anything behind.

5. Better Food Protection

I used to pack Zooey’s kibble into plastic bags but not only is that creating waste, it’s also not ideal for storing food for long periods. Having an Insulated food bag helps keep the food fresh longer.

6. 100% Lifetime Manufacturer Guarantee

If you’re worried that this bag will not live up to your standards, rest assured that there is a 100% lifetime manufacturer guarantee. Lucky Tail is a US-based company that truly believes that pets are family and have tested their products for pet-owner approval.

7. Plenty of Space for Extras

Besides food, I was able to add plenty of extra items for my pup in the bag. These accessories were not included with the bag, but are super useful. You will definitely be ready for wherever and whenever you go.

Collapsible Food Scoop - This two-in-one measuring scoop with a sealing clip accurately controls Zooey’s food portions so I don’t overfeed her while we’re traveling. It’s also not ideal to scoop kibble with my hands or having to pour the kibble into her bowl.

The food scoop collapses to save space and the built-in clip can be used to keep food fresh. Since I already have a zippered food bag, I secure the clip to the food bag so that it stays in place.

Quick Dry Towel - I purchased my quick dry towel at the Home Goods pet section, but there are plenty of options on Amazon as well. I also like to shop at TJ Maxx for discounted pet accessories and treats.

Waterproof Blanket - On road trips, I usually throw a large waterproof blanket for Zooey in the backseat. I also use the waterproof blanket to place over a couch when staying at vacation rentals since Zooey insists on sitting right next to me no matter where we are.

Water Bottle - I used to carry disposable water bottles, but in an effort to be more mindful of our earth, I purchased a refillable bottle. The one I have doesn’t require a bowl since the soft silicone leaf-shaped flap on the exterior turns into a bowl.

Final Thoughts

A dog suitcase for your fur baby may seem unnecessary at first, but if you are a traveler or just want to be prepared for anything at a moment’s notice, it’s a fantastic bag.

I live in California and during wildfire season, this travel bag will sit right next to my emergency bag. Crystal also has a dog travel bag and it’s ready to go during Florida’s hurricane season.
