We were huge fans of Stranger Things when it first aired in 2016 and couldn’t get enough of it. Crystal even dressed up as Joyce Byers for Halloween one year.
We’re still fans of the show, but after the third season aired, we strangely forgot about the show. One day we were doing some light shopping at The Americana at Brand and noticed a new Stranger Things Store.
Curious to see what it was, we were told that tickets had to be reserved online to enter the store. We had the pups with us, so we decided to return on another day and are so glad that we did. The entire experience is completely free so if you are a Stranger Things fan, it’s a fun journey into the popular Netflix series.
Make Reservations on Feverup.com
First, make sure to reserve your spot on Fever, since you won’t be able to just walk in. You can easily make a reservation on their app, which is what we did. The app is very user-friendly, so we had our tickets booked within a few minutes.
Fever has a ton of events and you can easily search what events are happening in your city (this includes international cities too). For example, if you are not into Stranger Things, there is a The Queen’s Ball: A Bridgerton Experience in LA, a Big Sushi Fest in Austin, and a Titanic Exhibition in London.
Fever is available in 100 cities worldwide, and they stand out in the market because of their immersive spin on traditional experiences, exclusive partnerships with companies like Netflix (e.g. Stranger Things), and a variety of Fever Originals.
Fun Interactive Photo Moments
We thought we’d get in immediately with a reservation, but we still had to stand in line. We booked our time on a weekday, so we didn’t have to wait too long (about 15 minutes).
What drew us to the Stranger Things Store was the interactive journey that was filled with photo opportunities. There were several interactive rooms where you can explore Stranger Things’ most iconic locations.
Joyce’s Living Room
This iconic room was where Joyce communicated with her dimensionally misplaced son via Christmas lights. There were so many details in this room. So much so that we spent quite a bit of time in there.
If you stay long enough, the lights suddenly dim and the light bulbs start blinking, which is a fun experience. If you hear the yellow rotary telephone ringing, don’t be afraid to pick it up. There might be someone on the other end.
Palace Arcade
The late eighties music in here really got us pumped since we grew up in the eighties. We did a little dancing and then noticed that the arcade games were free and functioning.
This is another thing that’s nostalgic to us since we grew up in the arcade generation. Crystal was actually known as the Tetris queen at the arcade she frequented back in the day. We played a little bit of Pac Man and Galaga and then headed to the next room.
Russian Lab
We weren’t sure what this room was at first but figured it must be the Russian lab. Season 3 revealed that the Russians had an underground lab in Hawkins and I guess we’ll have to stay tuned for Season 4 to see what kind of experiments were going on in here.
Hawkins School Hall & Snow Ball Dance
We walked into this room and started dancing again. Old-school music always puts us in a dancing mood. We took a few snaps at the Snow Ball dance backdrop and checked out Eleven’s locker. We loved that she stashed some Eggo waffles in hers. She is so addicted to that stuff!
Starcourt Mall
There are plenty of opportunities to shop merchandise in the various rooms, but most of the merch was in this area. You’ll also find some goodies from Scoops Ahoy and the Season 2 billboard backdrop of “Welcome to Hawkins”.
We loved this backdrop and the bicycles, but it was a bit tricky to take photos here. A bit of a bummer, since it made for such a fun photo-op with the bicycles.
Final Thoughts
We were pleasantly surprised at how massive the space was. We weren’t expecting numerous interactive rooms, so we ended up spending over an hour in here.
We didn’t end up buying any exclusive merch, but they had an array of products integrated into each location.
Feverup.com
The pop-up store launched on November 6th, 2021, and is only open for a limited time, so reserve your ticket before it’s too late. We visited the one in Los Angeles, but there is also one in New York City.
