Our stay at Hotel Indigo Denver Downtown was a short one, but we both loved our overnight stay here. It’s a pet-friendly hotel located in the heart of downtown Denver, right next to the iconic Union Station.
FIRST IMPRESSION
Hotel Indigo is known to be a hip, trendy boutique hotel and we instantly felt that vibe when we walked into their lobby. They had some cool wall art and an interesting sculpture as their centerpiece.
The entire staff was very professional and helpful in explaining the hotel’s amenities and also went out of their way to give us proper directions in the area.
IHG WAY OF CLEAN
Hotel Indigo Denver Downtown did an excellent job adhering to the current CDC guidelines. Before you enter the building, there are signs letting guests know that face masks are mandatory and social distancing must be practiced.
Right when you enter the hotel, there is a sanitizing station and when you approach the check-in desk, plexiglass is put up in front of each desk and the staff are all wearing a mask.
We appreciate the staff wearing masks on top of the plexiglass. There were some previous hotels we stayed at where masks were not required, so we felt a little uneasy approaching them. We did not have to worry about that here.
At the elevators, there are signs reinstating the social distancing guidelines again and only two people are able to ride the elevator at one time unless you are traveling together. There are also stickers inside the elevator indicating where you should stand to properly social distance.
Inside the room, there was a card from IHG reassuring their guests that IHG hotels are doing everything they can to keep everyone safe while traveling. Their number one priority is the guest and employee’s health, safety, and well-being.
LOCATION
The hotel is located in a fantastic location with CVS Pharmacy next door and Whole Foods Market just a few steps away. The iconic Union Station is also a short 7-minute walk where you have many restaurant options. Coors Field and the Contemporary Museum of Art are also located close by and only 0.5 miles away.
THE ROOM
We booked the Premier City View Two Queen room because we wanted the views but also a light-filled room. Many hotel rooms we stay in are so dark that it’s hard for us to see things, especially when we’re getting ready, so having a bright hotel room was refreshing.
We had panoramic views of the Denver skyline including Coors Field. We were also able to see the trains come and go from Union Station, which is always a neat sight to see. We only heard the trains a couple of times and they didn’t bother us at all.
Our room was located in the corner on the 5th floor in Room 508 and the fitness center was right around the corner.
Right when you walk in, there is a small closet to the right and the bathroom to the left. The closet had 5-7 hangers with an ironing board and iron.
The bathroom had a stand-up shower, but no bathtub, as expected. We did like that the shower head was adjustable and detachable. Our amenities included spa-quality Aveda bath and body products along with a couple of vanity kits that included cotton balls and Q-tips.
The decor was modern and Denver inspired with beautiful photographs of the Colorado wildlife and mountains.
The room came equipped with two queen beds, a small refrigerator, Keurig coffee, large TV, and a long working desk.
We really made use of that working desk. It doubled as a luggage rack and working station for us. We had to do a little work while we were staying at the hotel and working on the laptop while having the amazing, panoramic views of downtown Denver was pretty nice.
The beds were very comfortable and Candy especially liked the pillows, which is saying a lot because the past 5 hotels we stayed at, she always talked about how much she disked the pillows. This might be the first hotel where she was very pleased with the comfort of the bed and pillows.
THE AMENITIES
Hotel Indigo Denver Downtown has a clean and spacious fitness center that comes with several treadmills with TVs attached, a workbench area with dumbbells, and even restrooms and a shower.
We loved their fitness center so much that it made us want to get our work out in there. They even provide hand towels, a sanitizing station, and wet wipes to sanitize each station.
In the lobby, there is a small area where you can buy some snacks and drinks. They also have a restaurant, but it was closed due to the pandemic.
PET-FRIENDLINESS
The pet fee at this hotel was $75 per stay. It’s important to note that it’s per STAY and not per night. Most hotels charge a pet fee per night, so it was nice to know that Hotel Indigo only charges one fee for the entire stay. Dogs must be 40 pounds or less to stay at this hotel. There are no dog bowls, waste bags, or dog treats available, so make sure you bring your own.
HOTEL COST
We stayed at this hotel on September 1st, 2020, during the pandemic and booked the Premier City View Two Queen room at $160 per night (with taxes). There was also an additional $20 parking fee. There was plenty of parking in their garage.
The standard rooms tend to be about $20 - $40 less.

FINAL IMPRESSION
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and so did Kuma. When Kuma starts playing with her dog toy, it’s a sign that it’s a great hotel because she feels comfortable in the room.
We absolutely loved the light-filled room and the panoramic views. We will definitely stay here again when we come back to Denver.
