Most Drury Inn and Suites hotels have great reviews with fair prices, so when I had a stopover in San Antonio, I thought I would give another Drury Inn hotel a try. My first Drury Inn hotel stay was in Baton Rouge and I had a great experience there.
FIRST IMPRESSION
Drury Inn and Suites San Antonio Near La Cantera is located right off the interstate, so it was a great stop for my road trip. The entrance to the hotel looked really nice and the lobby area was gorgeous. It was definitely a step-up from my previous Drury Inn stay in Baton Rouge.
Reception was friendly, as expected with Drury Inn employees, and I received hotel key card and my 5:30 Kickback Drink Card. Although there is parking right outside the hotel lobby, the receptionist suggested I park in the free parking garage. This parking garage was very convenient because it takes you directly to the floor your hotel room is located on. Usually, you have to go through the lobby and then take another elevator up to your room and it’s kind of a hassle, so I was very impressed with how they connected these elevators with the parking garage.
LOCATION
The hotel is an excellent location next to a lot of shops and eateries. There’s an Applebee’s right next door, so if you don’t want to drive anywhere and want a full meal, this will be a great option. If you have a car or want to catch an Uber, The Rim is only 2 miles away and a great place for shopping, dining and entertainment. It’s located right next to Six Flags Fiesta Texas, so if you love those thrilling theme park rides, it’s less than 2 miles away.
ROOM
I asked for a room on the highest floor I could get and my request was granted. I stayed on the 9th floor in Room 932 and I absolutely loved my room. It was very spacious, clean and, most importantly, quiet. I stayed in a room with two queen beds, dresser, TV, working desk, accent chair, large mirror, closet, iron, and ironing board. There was also a microwave and mini refrigerator below the TV. Having a refrigerator on road trips is essential to me because I carry a cooler with snacks and drinks and some of the items need to stay in the fridge.
There was nothing exciting about the decor, but it was nicer than the Drury Inn in Baton Rouge. The headboards had a modern design and the mirror above the desk had a unique style. Everything was very clean with the remote wrapped in plastic to ensure that it had been cleaned and disinfected. I also had a note in the bathroom from the housekeeper letting me know that the room had been cleaned and disinfected.
The bathroom was very large and came with many towels, a couple bars of soap and a hair dryer. There was also shampoo, conditioner and body soap within dispensers in the shower. The shower pressure was great and the water was nice and hot.
The beds were very comfortable and I had a wonderful nap and a great night’s rest. The room was very quiet and I didn’t hear a thing although my window was facing the highways. The hallways were very quiet and the walls were pretty thick because I didn’t hear a peep from anywhere.
AMENITIES
Drury Inn is the most generous when it comes to their amenities. Each night, they provide complimentary breakfast, dinner snacks and THREE drinks (that includes alcohol). Nearly all the Drury Inn Hotels come with their FREE 5:30 Kickback which includes a rotating menu of dinnertime snacks, cold beverages, beer, wine, mixed drinks and more, every single night.
This hotel also had a large terrace, guest laundry, 24-hour business center, indoor/outdoor pool & whirlpool, 24-hour fitness center and free Wi-Fi. I didn’t use any of their amenities except for the Wi-Fi and that worked really well.
PET-FRIENDLINESS
Drury Inn’s pet fee is at a fair price of $35 per night with a limit of two pets per room. This includes dogs and cats. There was a dedicated pet relief area with dog waste station and other grassy areas nearby. They don’t provide any extras for the pets, so make sure to bring your own dog bowls, dog bed, dog crate, etc.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Drury Inn and Suites is a great hotel for pet owners and for families. I like their price point and their fair price for pet fees. I am also impressed with how much they give to their guests including free breakfast, dinner snacks and multiple drinks.
