COACHELLA x California MoonRise

Festival season is approaching and Coachella is right around the corner. The first time I went to Coachella was back in 2009 and this "Coachella Fashion" was not even a thing then. I'm not sure what year it exactly started, but it seems every year now H&M, Forever21, and other fashion brands have their own line of Coachella inspired fashion. I have always loved this boho style, but ever since I moved to LA I have fallen even more in love with it. So what exactly is boho style?

A few words that come to mind are fringe, flower prints, hippie, tie dye, booties, floppy hat, 70's, and cut-offs. Ok, that was a more than a few words, but whatever this boho fashion is it seems like it's here to stay. I adore brands that take on this boho look like Free People , For Love and Lemons, Cleobella, Gypsy05, and Janessa Leone. But I'm going to be honest, these brands can be a bit pricey. I usually wait for their clothes to go on sale or I hit up their sample sales (one of the perks of living in LA).

But then along came California MoonRise. They are a new clothing brand from Canada and when you go to their Facebook page they describe themselves as an "Indie Boho Fashion Inspired by Art, Travel, Music and all things Vintage." So what drew me to this brand and why am I all for it?

One : They are affordable. You can find plenty of outfits priced under $100. Don't you hate it when you find something you like and it's way out of your budget? I say, it's okay to splurge every now and then, but with clothes I typically only wear them a handful of times before it's on to the next one.

Two : They can be worn on any casual occasion and not just festival season. I've seen some Coachella outfits where I wonder if I can actually wear it somewhere else. People say, "If you feel confident, you can wear anything anywhere." I like the positive attitude and deep down inside I'm like, 'Yeah, I can wear that anywhere!" But then when it comes down to it, I just don't see myself wearing certain clothes unless it was meant for that specific occasion. Kinda like Halloween.

Three : They have so many pieces that can easily be mixed and matched with the wardrobe you already have. Sometimes dressing boho can be a bit tricky when adding other garments that aren't quite boho. It was easy for me to put together California Moonrise's kimono fringe top with pieces I already had in my closet. The black bikini I've had for years (Old Navy!) and who doesn't already own a pair of denim shorts? This kimono fringe top is a great layering piece to wear to the beach.

Although I won't be making a trip to Coachella this year, I'll at least be enjoying my California Moonrise.
