If you are looking for a hotel close to the Calgary Airport, you can’t get any closer than Calgary Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel. We had an early flight out of Calgary and staying at a hotel inside the terminal was super convenient. We drove in from Banff National Park, about an hour and half away, so this was the best option for us so that we didn’t have to worry about driving in the middle of the night and worry about returning the car before the 6AM flight.
When we arrived at the hotel we were pretty happy that it was literally located right next to our check-in gates for our morning flights. We were also surprised at how beautiful this hotel was. We were expecting an average airport hotel, but it felt like a 4-star hotel. The entrance was lovely and the receptionist at guest check-in was friendly and kindly answered any questions we had.
We booked a suite since we had a couple of friends traveling with us who also had early flights. We were initially thinking of booking two rooms, but the hotel offered an upgrade of CAD $70 for the suite, which provided us with a king size bed, sofa bed and a cot. Plus, we were given access to the club lounge that provided breakfast and light dinner.
The Room
The suite had two separate rooms. A bedroom and a living room. The bedroom had a king size bed and the living room had a sleeper sofa. The hotel prepared a rollaway bed in advance and placed it next to the sleeper sofa. Typically if we ask for an extra bed in advance, we always have to call room service since the request somehow gets overlooked. We were delightfully surprised that the staff here remembered. The bedroom was fairly large and, if we wanted, we could have put the rollaway bed in room as well. Both rooms came with a TV and the living room also had a small fridge and coffee maker.
The Bathrooms
We were so happy to see that the room had two bathrooms. Having to share one bathroom with four people can be challenging, so that was a nice surprise. The bathroom was equipped with the standard toiletries and there were plenty of towels for everyone
Soundproof Rooms
There was absolutely no noise. Being at the airport we thought we would hear occasional airplanes, but it was super quiet. We didn’t even hear any noise come in from the hallways.
Dining at Yakima Social Kitchen + Bar
We were pretty hungry after we checked into our rooms, so we headed back downstairs for dinner at the hotel’s restaurant. The menu had a variety of cuisines from American to Asian so it took us a while to decide on a dish. They also had a hand-crafted beverage menu which was a great because we needed a nice cocktail to celebrate the end of our last day in Canada.
The drinks were fantastic and we really loved the attention to detail. The Manhattan came with a clear spherical ice ball which was the fanciest ice we’ve ever seen! The food, on the other had, we have mixed reviews. Some of the dishes were fantastic where others were very average. Candy really enjoyed the Chicken Noodle Bowl and even finished the rest of Crystal’s bowl. Our friend ordered the Alberta Beef Filet and it was a little dry and the same went for Crystal’s Beef Sliders.
Pet Friendly
We didn’t have any pets traveling with us, but it’s nice to know that they welcome pets. The max is two pets per room. For fees visit their Pet Policy Page.
Our Verdict
We loved our over-night stay here. It’s super convenient, modern, and the rooms were sleek and spacious. The best part was waking up knowing we were only steps away from our departure gate.
