We booked three nights at AC Hotel by Marriott Tokyo Ginza since it was conveniently located within all the activities we had planned for our time in Tokyo.
Candy had some award night points that were expiring soon and luckily we had a few hotel options in the area like the Aloft Tokyo Ginza and Courtyard by Marriott Tokyo Ginza Hotel, but after looking at several reviews, we went with AC Hotel.
FIRST IMPRESSION
We were looking forward to our trip to Tokyo and staying at the AC Hotel Tokyo Ginza (by Marriott) ended up being an amazing choice we made. We arrived at the hotel shortly after 12PM and check-in was a breeze.
Check-in is at 3PM, so we were pleasantly surprised that our room was ready and on top of that, we were upgraded to a larger room.
LOCATION
We were in the bustling heart of Ginza, so the location of the hotel was perfect for our three days in Tokyo. We had several access points to subway stations only five minutes from the hotel. We were also within walking distance to a ton of attractions, shopping, and eateries.
BEDROOM
We initially booked the Standard Twin room which was 269 square feet, but was upgraded to a larger twin room on the fourth floor in Room #425 which provided us with a space totaling 323 square feet.
323 square feet may not seem like a huge deal, since this is a standard room size in the States, but in Tokyo, the average room size is just 118 square feet, so we definitely appreciated the additional space.
The room was equipped with the essentials like a small fridge (no freezer), a 55” LED TV, a Nespresso machine, a desk, and high-speed internet. The internet speed was fantastic and we never had any issues with it.
The entire room was brightly lit with natural light and the entryway was spacious. We were a bit surprised to immediately see a sink and counter that faced the bedroom since this was a layout we had never encountered.
The hallway closet was spacious and we were able to hang multiple items from our wardrobe. We appreciated the easy-to-use handheld garment steamer, which we used a few times throughout our stay.
The closet also had slippers, pajamas, a digital safe, and a shoe polisher. We wish all hotels provided a shoe polisher because they come in so handy when you want to put some shine back into your boots or leather shoes.
The beds were comfy with plenty of pillows and we both had nightstands with USB outlets to charge our devices. Despite being in a bustling city, we never heard any sounds from the outside or inside the hallways so this hotel was definitely built to be soundproof.
Bathroom
The bathroom sink area was on the smaller side, but the bathing area was spacious with a full size tub and a separate section for showering. The toilet was in a separate space equipped with luxurious smart technology (IYKYK). The water pressure was great and we never ran out of hot water.
The hotel toiletries included shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and soap. We weren’t huge fans of the toiletries as the scent was quite masculine. However, we really appreciated the additional amenities they included like the body towel, brush, and toothbrushes.
The body towel was definitely a plus because we’re not fans of the small washcloths where the soap never lathers and does a substandard job of scrubbing.
RELAXATION SERVICE IN THE GUEST ROOM
There was a small ad placed on our nightstand that offered in-room massage services at very reasonable prices. There were multiple options and we decided to book a foot massage after a long day of walking around Tokyo.
We didn’t think that we’d be able to book a service when we called at 8PM, but a masseur arrived at our room an hour and a half later. We were so pleased with the service that we reserved a time for another massage for our last day in Tokyo.
With the dollar being strong at the time of our visit, we were able to book two nights of foot massages (40-minute sessions) and two head massages (10-minute sessions) for under $200 for the both of us.
FINAL THOUGHTS
We absolutely enjoyed our stay here. Our room was modern, clean, and very spacious. Housekeeping was very attentive and replenished anything that we used, so we always had plenty of towels, water, coffee pods, etc.
The location was very convenient to the attractions we had on our itinerary and finding a place to eat was never an issue. The on-site restaurant and bar looked amazing, but we opted to eat outside since there were endless options just steps away.
For example, we dined at a trending ramen shop and an underground yakitori bar which were both fantastic. The hotel was also within walking distance to the Art Aquarium Museum, which we highly recommend checking out.
PROS:
Great location within walking distance of tons of shopping and dining establishments
Clean and spacious rooms
Attentive and helpful guest services
Soundproof rooms
In-room massage services
CONS:
We can’t think of any!
